Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about IAPCF credentials, certification, membership, and the MyZoneMindset app.

General Questions

What is the IAPCF?
The International Association for Performance Coaching & Facilitation (IAPCF) is a specialist professional body that certifies practitioners in mental performance and mental wellness coaching, with independently recorded client engagement. See Home for a full overview.
How is IAPCF different from ICF, EMCC, or IAC?
IAPCF differs in four key ways: specialist focus, tech-confirmed engagement, dual certification (coaching + facilitation), and one biennial MOM fee covering all credentials. See Why IAPCF for a full comparison. Many practitioners hold IAPCF alongside ICF, EMCC, or IAC credentials.
What credentials does the IAPCF offer?
Three credentials: CMTCF (Mental Performance), CMWCF (Mental Wellness), and CPC (Integrated Advanced Track, 5+ years). CMTCF and CMWCF each have Master-level variants. See Credentials & Certification for full details.
Do I need to be a psychologist or counsellor to get certified?
No. IAPCF credentials are designed for coaches, facilitators, educators, HR professionals, sport coaches, and anyone working in mental performance and/or mental wellness. You do not need a psychology or counselling licence. However, all practitioners must operate within their scope of practice and refer clients when clinical needs arise.
Is IAPCF a clinical qualification?
No. IAPCF credentials are non-clinical coaching and facilitation qualifications. Practitioners do not diagnose, treat, or provide therapy. Our Code of Ethics requires referral to qualified clinical professionals when issues beyond coaching scope arise.

Certification Process

What are the four steps to getting certified?
(1) Complete an IAPCF-recognised training programme, (2) apply and activate your Practitioner Pro app, (3) complete your 50-hour practicum with real clients, and (4) go live on the Global Registry once your hours are confirmed. See Credentials & Certification for the full breakdown.
What is the 1:15 Rule?
Each time you assign a mental skills exercise via the MZM app and at least one recipient completes it and submits a response, you earn 15 minutes of practice credit. No response = no credit.
What is the MyZoneMindset (MZM) app and do I have to use it?
Yes, the MZM app is currently required for the practicum and ongoing practice. It lets you assign exercises, track client responses, and log confirmed hours. Your application fee includes 6 months of Practitioner Pro access. In future, IAPCF plans to also accept logs from approved third-party platforms.
What happens to my certification data if the MZM app changes or is unavailable?
IAPCF maintains independent certification records separate from the MZM app. Your credential status and practicum completion data are stored by IAPCF directly. Practitioners can export their data at any time. See Data Privacy for full details.
Can I use the MZM app for group/team facilitation?
Yes. Credit is per issuance event, not per participant. Micro-credits may apply for reviewing high-volume group responses.
How long do I have to complete my practicum?
The minimum practicum duration is 8 weeks. If you need more than 6 months, maintain your active MZM status for a small monthly fee. No penalty or deadline pressure.
What about the CPC practicum?
CPC applicants complete 50 app-confirmed practice hours (no live-hour requirement) and submit 3 Professional Testimonials for Board review.

Pricing & Membership

How much does certification cost?
See Pricing for the full fee schedule. In brief: a one-time application fee per credential (includes 6 months of MZM access), plus training fees paid separately. No hidden fees.
What is the Maintenance of Membership (MOM) and how much does it cost?
Maintenance of Membership is a biennial requirement. One fee covers all your IAPCF credentials. Professional Members receive a 20% discount. See Pricing for exact figures.
What are the membership tiers?
Three tiers: Affiliate (course graduates not yet certified), Professional (certified practitioners with Global Registry listing), and Fellow (by invitation for senior practitioners). See Membership & Community for full details.
Do I need to be a member to hold a credential?
No. Membership is optional. However, Professional Membership gives you a Global Registry listing, MOM discount, and full MZM app access — and one new client from the Registry pays for years of membership.
What is the Global Registry?
A publicly searchable online directory of all certified IAPCF practitioners. It allows clients, employers, and organisations to confirm your credential status and specialisation.
Can I hold more than one IAPCF credential?
Yes. Many practitioners pursue both the CMTCF and CMWCF. Holding both unlocks Master-level variants. One biennial MOM fee covers all credentials.
I already hold an ICF / EMCC / IAC credential. Can I also hold IAPCF?
Absolutely. Holding both gives you breadth and depth. You may be eligible for recognition of prior learning (RPL). Contact membership@iapcf.org to discuss your pathway.
How do I find an IAPCF-accredited Training Partner?
Contact us at membership@iapcf.org for the current list. Each Training Partner has been vetted by the IAPCF Accreditation Panel.
How does a training provider become an IAPCF-accredited Training Partner?
Training providers must demonstrate that their programme covers the required cognate knowledge areas and skill competencies for the relevant credential track. The process includes a curriculum review by the IAPCF Accreditation Panel and alignment with IAPCF's evidence-based frameworks. Details are available by contacting us directly.
What currency are IAPCF fees listed in?
All fees are in Singapore Dollars (SGD) with approximate USD and EUR equivalents. We are exploring local currency payment for key APAC markets.
Who governs the IAPCF?
IAPCF is governed by a Board of Directors with an independent Certification Board and Ethics Committee. Board member profiles will be published on the website.
